Dr. Marxer's personal story
For many years, I personally endured the 'just not quite right' feeling when wearing eyeglasses. Even though I was able to read 20/20, it was frustrating to frequently have to close one eye or the other to feel more 'balanced'. How much fun is it to drive or snow ski when judging distances is a problem? Another big issue for me was to sleep more than 8+ hours each day, longer than usual for a young athletic male.
While a student at the Swiss school of Optometry, I was introduced to the Polatest instrument and MKH method of clinical eye examination. Finally, my eye teamwork problem was discovered! The treatment in my situation was a combination of eye muscle surgery and special prism lenses in my prescription eyeglasses.
It was truly amazing how correcting the imbalance in my eyes improved chronic physical discomfort I had been putting up with during my childhood and as a young adult. What a feeling of astonishment I had at the relief of three major problems: light sensitivity, prolonged sleep, and pain in my neck muscles. For so many years my body was using a lot of energy physically to help my eyes see. I would be exhausted by the end of the day, over-sleeping to recharge myself. And my strained neck muscles was my body's way of trying to literally hold things together.
To this day, I still remember the 'wow' feeling when putting on my special prism eyeglasses: suddenly I could see depth distances in my world!
I have personally benefited from the blend of medical surgical and specialized optometric eyecare.
My hope is the same for you: see more comfortably!
